Missions Team: We gather monthly to consider the needs of our community and find ways to support physical and spiritual growth of our neighbors and church family, nearby and across the world. Join us to discover ways God can use you to bless his creation.

PUMC MISSION MINISTRY OPPORTUNITIES

Prayer Quilt Ministry

This ministry makes prayer quilts for anyone who would be comforted and blessed by the prayers wrapped in each quilt.

Food Pantry and Utility Assistance

The Food Pantry and Utility Assistance serve the needs of those in our community who need food and who are in danger of having their utilities cut off.

United Women of Faith (UWF)

The UWF, formerly United Methodist Women (UMW) are a UMC group of women who come together for fellowship, and to serve Christ. Some of the activities that UWF performs or supports include:
  • School dressing days This program helps provide clothing to children in need.
  • Kits for Conference This program includes school kits, hygiene kits, and cleaning kits (during disaster) which are distributed by United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) during a crisis.
  • Operation Christmas Child (Shoe Boxes) The church collects items that fit into a shoe box and send them to the collection point for Operation Christmas Child. This is a program operated by Samaritan’s Purse®.
  • Angel tree Each Christmas the UWF place tags on a tree with a Christmas wish of a needy child. Church members can take and fulfill the wish on the tag.

United Methodist Men

The United Methodist Men (UMM) is a group of men from Peace Church who gather on the first Saturday of the month at 8:00 am for fellowship and service. Some of the service projects supported by the UMM are listed below.

  • Thurman Brisben Shelter support (once a month meal preparation) The men prepare lunch once a month for the residents at the shelter.
  • Heart Havens fund raising dinner The UMM holds a dinner and the proceeds are sent to Heart Havens to help support their activities.

Micah Ministries Golf tournament

UMM sponsors an annual golf tournament to raise funds to support Micah Ministries and their mission.

Micah Ministries Coldest Night of the Year Walk®
UMM spearheads a church wide team of walkers to raise funds for Micah Ministries.

Heifer Project® (Financial Support)

Peace Church raises funds to donate animals for farmers worldwide through this NGO.

Meals-On-Wheels®

Meals-On-Wheels delivers food to needy participants within a certain geographic area in the Fredericksburg area.

Society of St. Andrews® (gleaning fields for food)

Peace Church sends teams to farmers’ fields in the fall to gather food for needy people.

Servants At Work (SAW)

This mission builds ADA-compliant ramps in the Fredericksburg region for needy individuals.

Appalachian Service Project® (ASP)

ASP is a youth oriented service mission in the Appalachian region. The purpose of ASP is to make houses “warmer, safer, dryer.”

Volunteers In Mission® (VIMS)

UMVIMS puts Christian faith in action by providing opportunities for individuals to serve in mission programs, local outreach ministries and emergency response and recovery efforts.

Heart Havens®

Heart Havens is a nonprofit organization that provides a home and 24-hour support to adults with a developmental disability. Peace UMC supports Heart Havens financially and a member of our church is on their board of directors.

Stephen Ministry®

Stephen Ministers provide support to church members going through difficult times. Stephen Ministers® are not counselors, but they do have a range of skills that allow them to “walk” beside individuals in need, supporting them along their journey.
