Pastor
Rev. Dr. Elizabeth A. Foss
Pastor Elizabeth is an ordained elder in the United Methodist Church. She was ordained in 1989 and has been serving churches for 37 years in the Virginia Conference – rural churches, small-town churches, urban churches, and suburban churches – all over the state.
Pastor Elizabeth grew up in a military family and moved frequently. Her father, CAPT Robert N. Foss, was retired Navy and served on submarines for most of his career. He was the commanding officer of the USS Stonewall Jackson, SSBN 634, a nuclear submarine. Elizabeth is a graduate of the University of Virginia, where she majored in economics, and an honors graduate of Candler School of Theology, where she received her Masters of Divinity, and Wesley Theological Seminary, where she received her doctorate.
She is passionate about discipleship and wants to help people to have a solid and vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ. Fostering a strong prayer life, studying God’s word, sharing God’s love in the community and world through mission endeavors, and helping others to do all those things, are all important to her. So is listening. She wants the church to be a place where people can tell the truth about their lives – their ups, downs, doubts, worries – the whole of life, because God is part of all of it.
On a more personal note, she has two cats, and she loves reading, bead work, and military airshows.
